This is a type-specimen booklet for the Gill Sans typeface. The primary goal was to structure the booklet in a way that conveyed all of the relevant information about the typeface while giving it the space to champion itself and for its strengths to show. Visual elements were kept minimal and every part of the booklet is made from parts of the typeface itself. The symbols that show up throughout the book are all constructed from the character set of Gill Sans. They serve to add color, break up the space, and to exist as small pieces of art.
For the demonstrative sections, and as a nod to Gill Sans' English origins, I included quotations from famous English novels. Additionally, I included lines from Virgil's epic poem The Aeneid, because of Eric Gill's intent to create a typeface that is both classic and modern in design.
